About Sophie Pearce
Welcome to my cabinet of curiosities on the internet! I’m so humbled that you want to know more about me and my blog. First of all, thanks for being here. I’m a Welsh full-time travel blogger who loves to visit places that look like they have been plucked from the pages of a fairytale.
But, if you rewind around a decade ago, I was pretty unfulfilled in my corporate career…
THE SABBATICAL
Putting a ‘traditional life’ on pause
Like most people, I was told that having a job, a house and a family was the ‘dream’, but I quickly realised that life wasn’t for me.
So, I put a pause on my corporate career and took a sabbatical to go backpacking for six months around South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand!
It was one of the best trips and I realised what I was missing out on.
A Journey to India
When I returned home and resumed my corporate job, I was again a little lost.
Travelling and the soul-searching it brought with it had changed me. So, I applied for a secondment to be a trainer in India through the company I worked for.
The next thing I knew, I was an expat living in Delhi and I fell completely in love with the country!

Creating the blog
I was so inspired by India that I put another pause on my career to travel around the country for six months! That’s when I decided to create a travel blog document all of my adventures and tell my travel stories to loved ones back home…
My blogging timeline
- 2016 / 17 – I started my blog in India but had absolutely NO idea what I was doing. I just wanted to share my travel stories and have fun creating.
- 2018 – I wanted to take my Instagram journey to the next level as this is how I thought you could ‘make it’ as a blogger to make travel my full-time career.
- 2019 – I quickly realised Instagram was a losing game so decided to put in extra effort with my blog. I learned SEO and finally got accepted to Mediavine which earned me a full-time income.
- 2020 – the plague. All of the efforts I had put into my travel blog seemed in vain and my income vanished overnight. I didn’t stop working on my blog though!
- 2021 – After that blow, this year was about rediscovering my magic again. I decided to only write about things that brought me joy!
- Now – My site is read by millions of readers each year and is a love letter to all things magical, bookish and historical.
My ultimate wish
Since starting Third Eye Traveller, I have travelled to over 60+ countries solo and written over 1000+ travel guides to help my audience manifest their wildest travel dreams into reality. This website is read by nearly 4 million people every year and the journey is followed by thousands of people on social media. My ultimate wish is to inspire and empower you to travel and find your inner magic – even if it’s on your own. We have such a short time on this planet and I truly believe it should be spent doing more of what you love!
