You can visit the Pyramids of Giza, cruise down the River Nile, explore ancient temples in Luxor, relax by the Red Sea, or visit the Western Desert. Things to know before visiting Egypt
- You will need a tourist visa to enter Egypt. You can buy these at the border or in advance of travel.
- The official religion of Egypt is Islam and you will need to dress conservatively to respect the local culture.
- Egypt is generally safe but expect to be heckled. Women can expect catcalling. Here’s what not to do in Egypt.
- Have small notes prepared for baksheesh (tips).
- ‘Mummy Tummy’ or food poisoning is common, so take immodium in your suitcase! It’s always best to be prepared.
