Things to know before visiting Hungary

  1. If you’re from Europe, you do not need a visa for short tourist trips to Hungary. You can stay for a maximum of 90 days.
  2. You can book train tickets through the local transport website Mavcsoport. It’s easy to book and is in English.
  3. Don’t just stay in Budapest. There are countless amazing destinations you can visit away from the capital city.
  4. Hungary is generally a very safe country to visit. There is some pickpocketing in the major cities so be aware.
  5. Budapest is a party capital and the ruin bars are phenomenal. Just watch your things and be careful of drink spiking.
