How To Reserve Kinopio’s Café At Super Nintendo World Japan (2026)!

One of the most popular cafés at Universal Studios Japan is Kinopio’s Café in Super Nintendo World.

It’s an eatery shaped like Toad’s House where you can enter a mushroom world and enjoy Mario-themed food.

As a 90s kid, playing Nintendo games on SNES was a huge part of my childhood. So, I knew I had to visit.

It’s also the only sit-down restaurant in Super Mario Land, but it’s not as easy as just showing up and getting a table.

Kinopio’s Café runs on a reservation system that you can only sign up for on the day, and spots often sell out.

I know, stressful, right? But don’t worry. All is not lost. I got to eat here twice during my visit, and I’ll share some important tips on getting a table.

What is Kinopio’s Café at Super Nintendo World?

Kinopio’s Café, or the Toadstool Café, is the only sit-down restaurant inside Super Nintendo World Japan.

It’s a magical place where you sit inside a giant toadstool, and Chef Kinopio prepares tasty Mario-inspired cuisine.

You can enjoy dishes such as a Mario Cheeseburger, Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl, Luigi Chicken Sandwich and Bowser Steak.

It’s the perfect place to dine in Super Mario Land, but getting a table here can be a challenge if you’re not prepared.

How to reserve Kinopio’s Café

Unfortunately, you cannot reserve Kinopio’s Café in advance of your visit to Universal Studios Japan.

You can only reserve a time slot on the day when you’re already inside Super Nintendo World.

This is because you need to scan a QR code for the reservation system, which only loads when you’re close to it (within 80 metres).

So, there are two options to visit Kinopio’s Cafe:

Visit for the opening time
Reserve a time slot on the day, once inside Super Mario World

How to Visit Super Nintendo World Japan Universal Studios

Option 1: visit at opening time or late evening

On my visit, they weren’t running the reservation system straight away in the morning. You could head straight inside at the opening time of 9 am.

There was a small crowd outside the door waiting to go in, but the queues for food were really short at this time.

It did mean that I ordered quite a hearty burger meal for my breakfast, but I didn’t mind.

The main thing is I didn’t want to miss out on Kinopio’s Café, as seats always sell out! I also had fast passes over lunchtime, so I needed some fuel.

Likewise, I saw that they opened the doors for anyone to visit around 7 pm, near closing time. So, you could always try to visit for dinner.

Kinopio’s Café is open every day from 9 am to 8 pm, apart from Sunday, when it’s open until 8.30 pm. Last orders are 30 minutes before closing.

Option 2: Reserve a time slot

If you’d rather not eat a super early lunch, you can sign up to reserve a time slot. It’s free to do.

This does require you to be inside Super Mario World to reserve, as the café reservation system only appears within proximity to it.

To reserve, you show up at the entrance and scan a QR code to book a time slot.

The reservation times will be listed by the hour (10 am, 11 am, etc), and these can show up blank if it’s sold out.

If all the time slots are sold out, don’t worry. You can come back in an hour when the booking slots refresh and book the next available one.

It’s good to know that you can only book a few hours ahead at any one time. This is a good thing as it means more chances to try and book later.

For example, if you enter Super Nintendo World in the morning, you can’t book a late afternoon slot. You’ll have to book at a later hour.

Also, if your entry time to Super Nintendo World is late afternoon, this means that you still get a chance to book the restaurant.

Once you snag a time slot, fill out your email to receive a confirmation. You then show this email to the staff to enter (they won’t accept screenshots).

Approaching Kinopio’s Café

Once you’re inside Super Nintendo World, it’s hard to miss Kinopio’s Café under Bowser’s Castle.

It’s shaped like Toad’s House, which is a bright red mushroom with ‘Kinopio’s Café’ on the front.

There’s usually a small crowd of guests gathered outside all day who are hoping to get a reservation or waiting for their time slot to start.

If you already have your reservation, head to the front when it’s time and show the staff your email confirmation to go inside.

Inside Kinopio’s Café

Although the outside of Kinopio’s Café looks tiny, the actual size is delightfully deceiving once you head inside.

It’s a huge underground network of Toad-inspired rooms, and the Nintendo theming is expertly crafted.

You’ll firstly enter a queue where Chef Kinopio greets you, and a video shows his mushroom friends hard at work preparing food in the kitchen.

You’ll eventually reach the till station where you can see what’s on the menu, order and pay for your food.

What’s on the menu?

All the food on Kinopio’s Café menu is themed like Super Mario, and they have a great range of options. You can order:

The Super Mario Cheeseburger and fries
King Bowser’s Hamburger Steak
Luigi’s Green Curry Chicken Sandwich
Kinopio’s Omelette Rice with Shrimp & Mushroom Stew
Yoshi’s Spinach Carbonara
Fire Flower Spaghetti
Star Rice and Teriyaki Chicken
Piranha Plant Salads
Kid’s Hamburger Meal / Kid’s Curry Meal

They also have a range of side dishes like pizza bowls and mushroom soup (served in a Kinopio bowl).

If you want a sweet treat, you can order Power Up Box Tiramisu, Goal Pole Cake, or Double Cherry Chocolate Cake.

For drinks, they have the regular range of sodas like Coca-Cola and coffees/tea. But they also serve up a special Super Star Lemon Squash.

Seating & Ambience

Once you’ve ordered your food, you can collect your drinks at the counter next door. You’ll then be given a Mario-themed buzzer.

The staff will show you to your seat, and then your food will be delivered to your table as the buzzer acts as a guest tracker.

I gasped as soon as I walked inside the main seating area. All the tables are located under a giant toadstool; it feels like you’ve shrunk in size!

On the ceiling, you’ll find an iconic green pipe and some power-up items you’ll recognise from the Super Mario Nintendo games.

As I was a solo diner, I was seated around the main stem of the toadstool, but there were plenty of booths and tables in the circular dining hall.

When your food finally arrives, the staff will take a photo for you or your group. I thought this was a really nice touch.

What’s the food like?

On my first visit, I ordered the Super Mario Hamburger, the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl, and the Super Star Lemon Squash.

I have to admit, eating a hamburger and fries so early in the morning was wild to me.

Thankfully, I was starving thanks to my early wake-up call of 6.30 am to get in the park queue.

The Super Mario Cheeseburger was actually really tasty, and the fries were perfectly cooked. I loved the fact that it came with a Mario Hat stick.

I had read that portions were small, so I also ordered the Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl as a side.

It was utterly delicious, but not really needed as the burger was so hearty. I still ate it and loved the mushroom-shaped puff crust on the top.

The Super Star Lemonade was not to my taste. It was quite sour over sweet and had these jelly things at the bottom that I can’t stand.

Later in the day, I sat down here again for a sweet treat. I ate the Power Up Box Tiramisu with a Coke Zero. It was so tasty!

I did so much walking and queuing in Super Nintendo World, I was glad for a break to rest my back and feet. I am a millennial after all.

Is Kinopio’s Café worth visiting?

Yes, if you’re planning to spend time in Super Nintendo World Japan, then Kinopio’s Café has to be on your bucket list.

It is a little stressful to get a table, but it’s well worth the effort to try these tasty, Mario-inspired treats.

I got to eat here twice during my visit to Super Mario Land, and I don’t regret a single thing.

As a huge fan of Nintendo games from an early age, it really made my visit, as it was a childhood dream come true.

Don’t let the reservation system put you off dining at Kinopio’s Café; it’s a whimsical world you must visit at least once!

My top tips

You cannot eat here unless you have a timed entry ticket for Super Nintendo World or you’re already inside the area.

Visit for opening time or near closing to be able to walk straight inside.

Or, you’ll need to keep trying on the hour to reserve a time slot by scanning a QR code at the café.

You do need to be within 80 metres of the café for the reservation system to load.

Solo diners will be placed around the central toadstool, so be prepared to share the loop seating.

Where else can you eat at Super Nintendo World?

If you’d rather not go through the hassle of getting a table at Kinopio’s Café, there are other places to eat in Super Nintendo World Japan.

You can find Pit Stop Popcorn in the central courtyard, serving some cute popcorn buckets like the Super Star and Mario Kart.

There is also Yoshi’s Snack Island, which serves up Green Shell Calzones and Yoshi’s Lassi.

Or, you can head inside Donkey Kong Country and enjoy one of their DK Wild Hot Dogs and banana milkshakes in a barrel mug!

The only issue I found with getting snacks in Super Mario Land is the lack of seating. It’s just too busy. So, I awkwardly ate all of mine standing up.
