New Zealand
New Zealand was one of my favourite countries that I visited on my backpacking trip. As a lifelong Lord of the Rings fan, visiting Hobbiton was a dream come true! But, it’s not all about Tolkien here. You can explore the city of Auckland, see glowworms in Waitomo, cruise Milford Sound or chase an adrenaline rush in Queenstown. It’s all waiting for you. Let’s start planning your next adventure!

Things to know before visiting New Zealand
- If you’re from the UK, you can visit New Zealand visa-free for up to 6 months. You do need a NZeTA you can get on arrival.
- If you’re backpacking, I recommend exploring the country with a tour such as Kiwi Experience. I did this and loved it.
- Food can be expensive, so make use of supermarkets and prepare your own meals to save on costs.
- There is a South Island and a North Island and you can go between them by flight or ferry.
- Don’t try to do everything in one trip unless you have the time – it’s a huge place with so many incredible places!
