Visit The Night Court in London with Foyles ACOTAR Pop Up!

Calling all Sarah J. Maas fans, have you ever wanted to visit the world of Velaris? 

Well, now you can visit The Night Court in London with a pop-up at Foyles Bookstore.

That’s right, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of A Court of Thorns and Roses, Bloomsbury have published a set of Night Court editions.

There is also a stunning ACOTAR display that allows you to escape to Prythian…but, only for a limited time!

Words cannot express how much I love this book series, and my obsession has taken me to locations like the real-life Velaris from ACOTAR. 

So, I just had to visit to experience one of my favourite fantasy worlds. Here’s how you can visit The Night Court in London.

A decade of ACOTAR 

Can you believe that it’s been a decade since the release of ACOTAR? 

The book series isn’t even completed yet, although S. J. Maas has teased that the sixth book is almost finished.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Bloomsbury announced an exclusive set of Night Court editions sold at Barnes & Noble (US) and Waterstones (UK).

These gorgeous paperbacks are all-black in design with silver foil and black sprayed edges. 

Although the reviews for these have been mixed, I think they are great and capture the Night Court aesthetic beautifully.

To celebrate the release of these exclusive editions, Bloomsbury have created a Night Court display for readers to visit. 

This was originally installed in Liverpool Waterstones but has now landed in the Foyles Charing Cross branch in London. 

As this is a little closer to home for me, I jumped at the chance to visit one of my favourite fantasy worlds.

It’s rare to find displays like this in the UK, so I was very excited to check it out.

I visited Bloomsbury’s Throne of Glass tour when it was on and knew that this pop-up would be no less spectacular.

I’ve also never visited a Foyles bookstore, so it was a good opportunity to visit their flagship branch.

As soon as I walked in and saw “Welcome book lover, you are among friends”, I knew I was going to love it. 

Foyles ACOTAR Pop Up

The Foyles Night Court Pop Up is tucked away in their Sci-Fi & Fantasy section on the first floor. 

I honestly squealed and teared up a little when I first saw it, as it transports you straight to Velaris. 

It’s set up to look like the Moonstone Palace with a view of Ramiel in the distance. I loved the pillars decorated with flowers and creeping vines. 

In the middle, you can find The Mask from the Dread Trove. To avoid spoilers, I won’t explain. But it did look so realistic. 

On the ceiling, you’ll find twinkling stars, and they even play calming music, which adds to the enchanting vibe. 

Only you can decide what breaks you

The best part about the display was re-reading all of the powerful quotes from the books.

They are now some of my favourites of all time and still inspire me;

• “We need hope, or else we cannot endure”
• “Don’t feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy”

This magical display was so worth the visit to London. Of course, I got lots of photos and videos. So, have your camera ready.

They also have a stand filled with the new Night Court exclusive editions if you want to purchase any. 

I pre-ordered my set as soon as they were announced. They are now in pride of place on my bookshelf.

When is the Foyles Night Court display on until?

The Foyles Night Court Pop Up is only on display until the 31st of August. So, make sure to visit Velaris while you still can.

Due to the popularity of the installation, it may be extended again. It’s drawing many fans to London from all over the country. 

I met fellow readers on my visit and had a great chat about ACOTAR and all things Romantasy. 

I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a permanent installation at Foyles. But it may also move to another bookshop. It hasn’t been decided yet.

Foyles’ address & opening times

The Night Court in London can be found in Foyles on Charing Cross Road, which is in the heart of the city.

The closest tube stations are Tottenham Court Road Station on the Central and Northern lines or Charing Cross Station on the Bakerloo and Northern lines.  

It’s open from 9 am – 9 pm from Monday to Saturday and 11.30 am to 6 pm on Sundays. So, there’s plenty of time to visit Velaris in London. 

It’s the perfect excuse to plan a bookish day trip for ACOTAR fans.

To the stars who listen and the dreams that are answered

ACOTAR is one of the most transformative book series I’ve ever read and got me out of a decade-long reading slump.

It also reignited my passion for the fantasy genre and kick-started my obsession with Romantasy books.

I’ve read hundreds since, and I always seem to be chasing the same high that A Court of Mist and Fury gave me.

So, visiting this pop-up felt really special, and I’m still not over the fact that I got to visit Velaris.

If you’re also a fan, you must stop by before it leaves. The Night Court is waiting to welcome you.

Why not add a real-life Velaris to your bucket list?

There are plenty of locations around the world that ACOTAR fans say look like Velaris in real life.

But many agree that Zermatt in Switzerland looks most like the City of Starlight.

It is a charming village in the Swiss Alps that has a lot of similar features.

It’s surrounded by snowy mountains, has a ‘Sidra-esque’ river, cute chalet houses and even a mountain similar to Ramiel. 

It’s a must-visit for any ACOTAR fan. I visited in winter, and it truly felt like I had entered the Night Court.
