Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Taipei – Visit a Sanrio Convenience Store in Taiwan!

Sanrio fans, did you know that you can visit a Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Taipei?

Not only does it feature all the most popular Sanrio characters, but it’s kawaii, fun and PINK. 

You’ll find a huge statue of Hello Kitty inside, artwork on the walls, Sanrio Gachapon machines, and they even serve coffee in Hello Kitty cups! 

As someone obsessed with the world of Sanrio, I knew I couldn’t skip visiting this whimsical place. It’s a paradise for anyone who loves cute things. 

Here is a complete guide to visiting the enchanting Hello Kitty 7-11 in Taipei.

Where is the Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Taiwan?

I know Sanrio fans will rejoice when they learn that there is not one but two Hello Kitty 7-11’s in Taipei. So, you can have double the kawaii fun.

1. Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Ximending (the more famous and larger store)
2. Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Xinhanhua (a smaller store but no less cute)

The great news is that both of the Sanrio 7-Eleven’s in Taipei are only around a 10-minute walk from each other, so you can easily visit both!

Why should you visit? 

Do you need any more reason to visit a Hello Kitty 7-Eleven other than it being Hello Kitty themed?

I jest, but there are so many reasons to visit these whimsical Sanrio 7-11’s. 

For one, it’s painted completely pink and has lots of artwork of your favourite Sanrio characters. 

This makes a fabulous photo opportunity, but there are also lots of kawaii things waiting for you in-store.

You can try to win Sanrio plushies in their claw machines, play Gachapon and buy Sanrio merchandise like blind boxes, plush toys and bag charms. 

You can get a coffee served in a Hello Kitty cup and sit at themed tables, and they even have Hello Kitty-themed products, toiletries and snacks.

Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Ximending 

The Sanrio 7-11 in Ximending is the most popular Hello Kitty convenience store as it’s the larger of the two.

As soon as you arrive, you’ll find it painted pink with a rainbow of pastel stripes at the top. 

You’ll find a group of your favourite Sanrio characters welcoming you inside with a neon sign in the window saying ‘Stay Cute’. 

As soon as you enter, you’ll find a huge statue of Hello Kitty holding a coffee cup and a few Sanrio characters lit up on the ceiling. 

To the left, you’ll find some Sanrio-themed tables with Gachapon and claw machines. Plus, some Hello Kitty and Pompom shelves with merchandise.

As you walk around the store, you’ll find lots of kawaii signs and characters dotted about. 

Plus, there is a section filled with Hello Kitty-themed snacks and toiletries like wipes and tissues. 

Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Xinhanhua

The Sanrio 7-Eleven in Xinhanhua is the smallest of the two but is no less kawaii.

As soon as you approach the store, you’ll find it’s completely painted pink with pink Gachapon machines outside this time. 

There’s no statue of Hello Kitty, but you will find another ‘stay cute’ neon sign and some artwork near the front door.

Inside, you’ll again find it painted pink and pastel rainbow colours with Sanrio characters above the fridges and shelves.

I visited both stores for coffee, and I have to admit, I liked this one a bit more as the tables face the streets outside, and it was a little quieter. 

Things to do in the Sanrio 7-Eleven

Beyond being a paradise for Sanrio fans and a great photo op, these kawaii convenience stores serve a practical purpose too.

On my recent trip to East Asia, I found I was in convenience stores daily for coffee, snacks, drinks, ice creams, or to top up my Transport Card. 

Here are all the whimsical things to do in the Sanrio 7-11 in Taipei;

1. Snap the kawaii decor

The obvious draw of visiting these kawaii convenience stores is to snap some cute photos. 

There are so many photo opportunities to be found, like out the front, the Hello Kitty statue and the artwork inside. 

I honestly couldn’t stop taking photos as every corner was so pretty. 

Just be mindful of locals who are coming in to shop or eat and don’t want to be involved in social media antics. 

2. Buy coffee in a Hello Kitty cup

The thing I loved about themed 7-Elevens in Taiwan is that each store had a coffee cup or cup sleeve based on the theme.

So, in the Sanrio 7-Eleven, you can have your coffee served in a Hello Kitty cup!

The large City Cafe cups feature Hello Kitty and Keroppi, and the medium cups feature Pompompurin and Cinnamoroll. 

The iced coffee they serve in Taiwan convenience stores is amazing, and it’s incredibly affordable at only around £1 or NT$45.

You can also order iced tea and a whole range of hot drinks. Super cute!

3. Play Hello Kitty Gachapon & claw machines

After my recent trip to Japan, I have become a little bit obsessed with Gachapon machines, and I was so excited to see them in Taiwan.

In each Sanrio 7-Eleven, you’ll find a huge range of pink machines with capsule toys to win. 

You’ll find that basic figures are around NT$60 ( approx £1.50) and larger or more quality figures are around NT$150 (£3.50).

Most only take cash, so I usually keep a little bag of coins on me just in case one takes my fancy, or I see an exclusive.

There are also some claw machines where you can try to win some Sanrio plush toys.

4. Buy Sanrio merchandise 

Another thing I loved about all the Hello Kitty 7-Eleven’s is that they have huge shelves of merchandise.

You could find plushie keychains, blind boxes, huge plush toys, plus a range of stationery. 

It all looked so inviting, I just wish I had more room in my suitcase, or I would have bought so much more. 

5. Find Hello Kitty-themed goods

You can find Hello Kitty-themed products in any 7-Eleven across Taiwan, as she’s a super popular character there.

But I did find that the Sanrio 7-Eleven in Ximending had just a little more stock to choose from.

You’ll find lots of Hello Kitty-themed snacks like baked goods, bottled drinks and sweets. 

There are wipes, tissues, face masks and lip balm. I bought some miniature Kuromi wipes, which were a lifesaver on my travels.

Plus, you can find many Sanrio-themed EasyCards, which you can use to pay for public transport or things in the convenience store.

As Kuromi is my favourite character, I bought a plush Kuromi as my card. 

It’s not practical at all and was a nightmare to top up at machines. But, as I was only there for a few weeks, why not? 

When is the Sanrio 7-Eleven in Taipei open? 

Like most 7-Eleven stores across Taiwan, the Hello Kitty convenience stores are open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

So, there is plenty of time to visit during your time in Taipei. Plus, it’s a cute place to fight off jet lag with a 3 am ramen!

Is the Hello Kitty 7-Eleven in Taipei worth visiting? 

I think it’s pretty obvious by now that I would recommend visiting the Sanrio 7-11 in Taipei. 

Not only is it completely free, but it’s super cute and serves a practical purpose on your trip, too. 

Whether that’s ordering coffee, buying snacks or topping up your transport card, why not do it in a kawaii paradise?
