My family are all from South Wales and, I may be biased, but I think that Wales is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet! You’ll find unspoiled countryside, rolling emerald peaks, colourful harbours, plenty of fairytale castles and lots and lots of sheep. Most people explore either the north or south of Wales on their visit and they couldn’t be more different. However, the scenery in both parts is utterly breathtaking. Things to know before visiting Wales
- You must apply for a Standard Visitor Visa if you’re heading to the UK for tourism. You can apply for this online.
- It’s easiest to travel around with a car but you can book trains through TFW. These connect major towns/cities.
- The Welsh Language, or Cymraeg, always comes first. You’ll see it on lots of street signs and other places. But, (almost) everyone in the country speaks English.
- Wales may seem small on the map but it’s a large distance if you’re exploring by car. Luckily, there are plenty of pitstops.
- Don’t make the mistake of visiting for the day. I recommend at least 3-5 days in Wales for the best experience!
