On my recent visit to China, I was lucky enough to try the McDonald’s x Pop Mart Twinkle Twinkle collaboration.

It’s a limited-time event where you can purchase Twinkle Twinkle food, visit Pop Mart decorated restaurants and buy exclusive toys.

As a huge fan of Pop Mart, I felt like the stars had aligned for me as I was travelling in Beijing at the time.

So, I got to visit one of the decorated flagship stores for this special occasion.

Here is all you need to know about the McDonald’s x Pop Mart collaboration in China.

What is the McDonald’s x Pop Mart collaboration?

It’s a limited-time event where Pop Mart has joined up with McDonald’s to bring an exciting range of new food and exclusive toys in China.

Their first event was a hugely successful Dimoo collaboration, where 400,000 blind boxes sold out in just 15 minutes.

This year, they have gone with the theme Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars, a popular character in the Pop Mart world.

McDonald’s has introduced a complete set of food, drinks, and desserts that you can try in 7,900 restaurants around the country.

They also have an exclusive range of limited edition toys that you can order, but fair warning, they sell out super fast!

Also, they have redecorated a few of their larger stores around China with a Twinkle Twinkle theme, including Guangzhou and Beijing.

What McDonald’s Pop Mart food is available?

For this event, McDonald’s has introduced an entire Twinkle Twinkle meal range, including:

  1. Extra-long Deep Sea Cod Burger
  2. Wish Star Hash Pancakes
  3. Nebula Sea Salt Caramel McFlurry
  4. Orange-flavored Iced Soda

They also have a sharing pack of 20 items, including 10 Chicken McNuggets and 10 Wish Star Hash Pancakes.

This comes served in a special Twinkle Twinkle box with sauce pots, including Tom Yum, Honey Mustard, Pizza and Sweet & Sour flavours.

All of the food above comes served in Pop Mart packaging that is super cute. They even have themed tray sheets and takeout bags.

Look out for cut-out pieces on the boxes that you can take home with you as a memento!

McDonald’s Pop Mart x Twinkle Twinkle toys

As part of this whimsical collaboration, McDonald’s is releasing an entire range of exclusive Twinkle Twinkle toys.

Four toys form part of a “Star People Choir”, and each costs 59.90 CYN. But you can only choose one item per order.

I visited one of the McDonald’s seconds after they were released at 10.30 am on the first day.

But I was shocked to find that they had completely sold out by the time I got to order!

I couldn’t believe it, you have to be so fast to get your hands on one in China.

In anticipation of this demand, McDonald’s decided to release more toys on the 30th May, but I had left the country by then *sniff*.

On June 1st, they also released another toy called the “Star Answer Machine”, and again, this sold out in a matter of minutes.

I honestly don’t understand why they don’t make more toys, knowing the extreme demand and popularity of these events. But, it is what it is.

Starry Night McDonald’s Restaurants

As well as the food and toys, McDonald’s has picked six stores around the country to be redecorated in a Pop Mart Twinkle Twinkle theme.

These are called ‘Starry Night McDonald’s spaces’ and provide an immersive experience to get involved in the celebrations. You can find these in:

  1. Beijing
  2. Xiamen
  3. Guangzhou
  4. Tianjin
  5. Suzhou
  6. Hangzhou

I was lucky enough to visit the Beijing “McDonaldland” Flagship store, which is located on Chaoyanggongyuan South Road.

They had completely redecorated the store with Twinkle Twinkle branding and even had a huge blow-up Twinkle Twinkle outside.

He was dressed in a McDonald’s uniform, and I was honestly made up! It made such a great photo opportunity.

There were even Twinkle Twinkle tables inside where you could sit down and enjoy your meal.

It was all so enchanting, and I couldn’t stop taking photos. As a huge Pop Mart fan, I felt so lucky to be there.

Looking for more Pop Mart in China?

If you love Pop Mart, then you’re going to love visiting China, as it’s where the company was established.

You’ll find Pop Mart stores around the country, but one of the best shops has to be their Pop Mart flagship in Shanghai on Nanjing Pedestrian Street.

It’s enormous and has been decorated to look like the inside of a spaceship.

You’ll find themed zones of popular characters like Space Molly and Labubu, plus photo opportunities galore.

Just expect huge crowds and sometimes queues to enter, especially on weekends.

Just down the road, you can find Molly’s Dessert House, which is a food van serving Pop Mart-themed ice creams, cookies and desserts.

I ordered the Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars double ice cream, and the staff put on a show when they opened and split it, which was so cute.

Lastly, you must visit Pop Land, which is a Labubu theme park in Beijing!

There are so many things to do there, like photo opportunities, carnival games, rides, shows, Labubu waffles and character meet and greets.

Not to mention, they have a whole range of exclusive Pop Land merchandise in Molly’s Castle that you can’t get anywhere else.

It was honestly a highlight of my trip to China, and I encourage anyone to go. You can buy your tickets on Klook
