Molly’s Dessert House Shanghai – Visit the Viral Pop Mart Ice Cream Shop!

Pop Mart fans, did you know that you can visit a Pop Mart Ice Cream shop in  China?

It’s called Molly’s Dessert House Shanghai, and they sell all sorts of popsicles and sweet treats shaped like Pop Mart characters.

It often goes viral on social media, as whenever you buy a popsicle, the staff put on an adorable show for you. 

It’s also just a few steps away from the Pop Mart flagship, which is the largest Pop Mart in the entire world. 

So, if you love Pop Mart, you must add this place to your bucket list. 

As a huge Labubu fan, I was in my element and would go back in a heartbeat. 

Here is a complete guide for Molly’s Dessert House in Shanghai with the exact location and what to expect. 

What is Molly’s Dessert House Shanghai?

Molly’s Dessert House is a pop-up ice cream van in Shanghai run by the blind-box toy company Pop Mart.

This Pop Bakery opened to celebrate Molly’s 20th anniversary and sells a variety of sweet treats shaped like the most famous Pop Mart characters.

They sell both chocolates and biscuits in their van, but the most popular items are their popsicles.

Their twin Twinkle Twinkle popsicles often go viral on social media as the staff put on an adorable show when they open the box.

After watching countless videos of this Pop Mart ice cream shop online, I knew I had to visit for myself on my travels through Shanghai. 

Where is Molly’s Dessert House in Shanghai?

The Pop Mart Ice Cream van is located on East Nanjing Road pedestrian street.

This is just down the road from the Pop Mart Flagship Store, the largest Pop Mart in the entire world!

You can only access Molly’s Dessert House on foot as the shopping street is pedestrianised.  

The closest metro station would be East Nanjing Road Station on Line 2 or Line 10. Then, you can walk a couple of minutes to the Pop Bakery.

It’s open from 10 am until 10 pm, so there’s plenty of time to visit.

When is the best time to visit?

As Molly’s Dessert House in Shanghai is so popular and often goes viral on social media, you can expect it to be busy with a long line. 

I recommend visiting on a weekday, as weekends can be extra packed. 

I first visited on a Saturday and had to queue for over 30 minutes to get my Twinkle Twinkle popsicle. 

I went back during the week at the same time for a CryBaby ice cream, and there was no queue at all. 

Visiting in the morning or early afternoon is also much better than late afternoon or evening for crowd levels.

What’s on the Pop Bakery menu?

Of course, I had seen countless videos of Molly’s Dessert House Shanghai on social media, and I knew about the double Twinkle Twinkle ice cream.

But I had no idea that this cute food van sold so many items based on Pop Mart characters. It also functions as a Pop Bakery.

You could find ice creams shaped like Labubu and CryBaby in vanilla and chocolate flavours.

There were also lots of biscuit tins available to take home with Dimoo, CryBaby, Labubu and Skullpanda. 

Twinkle Twinkle Twin Popsicle

The most popular item at Molly’s Dessert House in Shanghai has to be the Twin Twinkle Twinkle Popsicle.

It’s mango flavoured and comes with two lollies stuck together shaped like Twinkle Twinkle. It costs 38CNY a set.

When you purchase the ice cream, the staff will open the box and put on a little show to present what’s inside to you, which is so sweet.

Firstly, you get a collectable card. Then, they take the lollies out, split them up, and rub their cheeks together as they are the best of friends.

Eventually, they hand you the lollies, or you can have them put back in the box to take away. 

As I was eating both of the ice creams myself, I had them put back in the box to take some photos before devouring them! 

Beyond being an adorable show, the popsicles tasted incredible. If you’re only going to buy one thing, I highly recommend this one. 

CryBaby Ice Cream

If you don’t like mango or just want something different, they do have some CryBaby popsicles. They come in either a vanilla or a chocolate flavour.

On my second visit, I tried the CryBaby ice cream in chocolate, and it was really yummy. 

Once again, the staff present you with the ice cream in the box. There’s no collectable card with this one, though.  

They do sometimes have other character ice creams as well, such as a black Labubu popsicle (The Monsters), but these were sold out on my visit. 

Pop Mart Biscuits & Chocolates

As well as ice creams, you can purchase collectable tins of biscuits shaped like Pop Mart characters from their Pop Bakery.

You can find the Monsters biscuits, Dimoo cookies and Skull panda treats.

They had lots of CryBaby tins with different shaped biscuits in a variety of flavours. You could find blonde, CryBunny, CryTeddy and brown. 

They also had full-size CryBaby-shaped chocolates that came in individual tins. These were so popular they had all sold out for my visit.

They also had some chocolate-shaped vinyl records in honour of Molly’s 20th anniversary. 

I wish I had more room in my suitcase, as I would have bought a few tins. 

They make such cute collectables and also would have been great gifts for family and friends back home. Oh well, next time. 

Is Molly’s Dessert House Shanghai worth visiting?

Most definitely. As a huge Pop Mart fan, I was over the moon to visit this viral ice cream shop.

Even though I had to wait over 30 minutes for my Twinkle Twinkle ice cream, I still thought it was a magical experience.

The fact that the staff put on a cute show for you every time you buy something was so sweet and made the visit memorable.

If you love Pop Mart characters and sweet treats, you will be in your element here. Don’t skip it in Shanghai.

When is Molly’s Dessert House in Shanghai open until?

Molly’s Dessert House in Shanghai was only meant to be a temporary pop-up for the 20th anniversary that ran until early April 2026.

But, due to the popularity of the Pop Mart Ice Cream shop, they have decided to extend the van on East Nanjing Road.

It currently doesn’t have an end date posted online, and people still queue for hours for these tasty treats each day.

So, I would make sure to visit this kawaii dessert van while you still can!

Visit the Pop Mart Flagship Store

If you love Pop Mart, you’ll love visiting China, as it’s where the company was founded. 

You’ll find Pop Mart stores around the country, but one of the best shops has to be their Pop Mart flagship in Shanghai on Nanjing Pedestrian Street.

It’s the largest Pop Mart store in the world and has been decorated to look like the inside of a spaceship. 

You’ll find themed zones of popular characters like Space Molly and Labubu, plus photo opportunities galore.

Just expect huge crowds and sometimes queues to enter, especially on weekends. 

Visit POP LAND in Beijing

Lastly, you must visit Pop Land, which is an entire Labubu theme park in Beijing.

There are so many photo opportunities, carnival games, rides, shows, Labubu waffles and character meet-and-greets. 

You can also visit a giant Molly’s Dessert House in Molly’s Castle with even more cakes, pastries and treats shaped like Pop Mart characters.

They also have a whole range of exclusive Pop Land merchandise that you can’t get anywhere else.
