Cinnamoroll Café Osaka – Is the Special Room Worth It (2026)? 

Kawaii fans, did you know that there is a Cinnamoroll Café in Osaka?

It’s a whimsical restaurant in the clouds where you can sit with Cinnamoroll and eat kawaii dishes shaped like the cute puppy and friends.

You don’t need a reservation to dine here, but they do have a dreamy special room that you can book for an added fee.

As huge fans of Sanrio, my friend and I decided to pay for this experience on our trip. 

Here is a complete review of Cinnamoroll Café Osaka and whether the special room is worth booking.

What is the Cinnamoroll Café in Japan?

Cinnamoroll is a white puppy dog with long ears and a cinnamon roll-shaped tail.

His story is that he fell out of the sky and lives at Café Cinnamon.

He’s a kawaii icon that was created in 2001 but is easily one of Sanrio’s most popular mascots today.

Cinnamoroll has ranked first place in Sanrio character rankings for years until Pompompurin knocked him off the top spot this year.

Since his creation, there have been many other friends created for his whimsical world, like Mocha and Baby Milk.

So, it makes sense that you’ll find some themed Cinnamoroll Cafés that you can visit in Japan. 

There are currently branches in Tokyo, Fukuoka and Osaka. Each café has a similar menu but with some exclusive dishes found only at their store.

I thought the Osaka one looked the best as it has a special room you can book. So, we decided to go there on our visit.

Do you need a reservation?

Technically, no. You don’t need a reservation to eat in the Cinnamoroll Café in Osaka.

They take walk-ins, but this is only for their tables on the second floor. These are on a first-come, first-served basis. 

However, they do have a special room that you can book in advance for an extra fee.

What is the Cinnamoroll Café Special Room?

Osaka’s Cinnamoroll Café special room is an enchanting setting on the third floor.

This dreamy and fluffy space is decorated in a gorgeous pale blue and features Cinnamoroll and his friends flying in the clouds.

If you reserve this special room, you get some added perks:

1. A prettier, more intimate setting with Cinnamoroll and friends 
2. Gifts of badges or acrylic keyrings (one per person)
3. Exclusive kawaii placemats and coasters
4. Exclusive special room dishes on the menu

There is a reservation fee of ¥1000 per person to dine there, which is added to your bill at the end. 

I thought it was well worth paying for. I mean, if you’re going to eat at the Cinnamoroll Café, you may as well do it in style.

Plus, it means you’re guaranteed a seat on your visit rather than having to wait in the normal queue. 

We booked our table a couple of weeks in advance as this experience sells out pretty quickly.

Where is the Cinnamoroll Café in Osaka?

You’ll find this kawaii café on the bustling Ebisu Bashi-Suji Shopping Street, which is en route to the Dotonbori waterfront. 

This covered walkway is a bit of a bottleneck and can get incredibly crowded. 

But the Cinnamoroll Café is near the front. So, you can escape without going too far inside.

The café also stands opposite the Sanrio store, making it perfect for a themed day out.

It’s best to approach on foot as the area is pedestrianised. The nearest Osaka metro stop is Namba Station. 

You won’t miss the café, as there is a huge sign of Cinnamoroll on the front!

Inside the Cinnamoroll Café

As soon as you step inside the café, you’ll enter the gift shop on the first floor with a few seats and a takeaway counter.

As we made our way up to the special room, we walked by the unreserved seating area on the second floor.

There is an adorable statue of Cinnamoroll waiting at the front to greet you. 

The room is decorated in white and blue with some Cinnamoroll artwork on the walls. 

It is a very cute setting. So, if you don’t want to spend the extra cash, I would sit here.

But you don’t get to reserve these seats. It can also get busy, especially on weekends. So, I would arrive early to avoid a long wait. 

Inside the Special Room

As I stepped inside this whimsical room, I gasped as it was like walking in the clouds. 

It’s decorated in a gorgeous pale blue with stars, moons and constellations. You’ll find Cinnamoroll riding a unicorn as well as sipping coffee. 

Plus, look out for his friends Mocha, Cappuccino, Chiffon, Espresso and the adorable sleeping Baby Milk.

The tables are shaped like clouds with white and blue chairs and striped booths. 

The setting is simply breathtaking, and I couldn’t wait to get started.

When we were shown to our cloud table, our exclusive placemats and coasters were already laid out waiting for us. 

These were so cute and had a white winter theme in November.

The kind host then gave us the menu and our gifts for reserving the special room. 

We both received shiny glitter badges of Cinnamoroll. Both had Osaka written as a constellation, which made a wonderful souvenir.

What is on the Cinnamoroll Café menu?

The Cinnamoroll Café has a whole range of main meals, drinks, desserts and side dishes shaped like Cinnamoroll and friends.

You’ll find Baby Milk’s, ‘I want to fly in the sky’, blue pasta and a ‘let’s eat together’ Cinnamoroll hamburger plate.

For a lighter meal, you can order the Cinnamoroll corn soup and themed bread rolls.

For drinks, there is a Cinnamon Latte Cino, iced milk and soda floats. There are also sweet treats like the Cinnamoroll Mini Tiramisu

If you booked the special room at the café, there are some exclusive dishes you can only order on this floor. 

This was a Cinnamoroll burger, but we already knew our order before we sat down, and that was their signature dish. 

Blue Cinnamoroll Curry 

The most famous dish at the Cinnamoroll Café and the one that often goes viral on social media is Cinnamoroll’s Distant Sky Blue Curry. 

It’s Cinnamoroll’s face made out of rice in a blue sauce, joined with clouds and stars on the plate.

Now, I’m not going to lie, as much as I was excited to visit, I was sceptical about whether I would enjoy this. 

Of course, it looks adorable, but a blue curry?! It is just not done. 

However, my friend and I were pleasantly surprised. It was adorably presented, very tasty, filling, and even had a kick to the sauce. 

Do I know the flavour of the blue Cinnamoroll curry? Absolutely not. Would I eat this kawaii dish again? Heck yes.

Cinnamoroll Soda Floats

We also ordered some colourful Cinnamoroll soda floats. These are Osaka exclusives, so we simply had to try them. 

These drinks were vibrant and had Cinnamoroll (strawberry) and Baby Milk (orange) faces on the vanilla ice cream scoops. I loved their wafer ears. 

Each face had a dollop of whipped cream and a glacier cherry on top. 

Beyond looking pretty in photos, these drinks were really tasty and not overly sweet.

Cinnamoroll Cake 

As a sweet treat to finish, we ordered the Cinnamoroll Special Shortcake. 

It’s essentially a Victoria sponge cake shaped like Cinnamoroll’s face with a whipped cream topping, wafer ears and a side of fresh fruit. 

The size of this cake was impressive, but the taste was just okay. It had so much cream on it that it masked the flavour of the sponge.

There was also very little fruit and no jam between the layers. It looked cute but was totally bland, so I wouldn’t order this again.

The taste verdict 

Overall, I thought our dishes were equal parts aesthetically pleasing and palatable. 

It was way better than I thought it would be, especially as the curry was bright blue. 

But let’s be real, this is a theme café. So, it’s never going to be gourmet. 

The overall experience is really what you’re paying for, and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Is the Cinnamoroll Café special room worth it?

Yes, looking back, I think that the Cinnamoroll Café special room is worth it.

It does cost an extra fee, but it makes the experience all the more enchanting. 

Not only do you get some exclusive gifts for reserving, but the decor is magical and makes for pretty photo opportunities.

If you’re a fan of anything cute, then you’ll adore this place and have the best time! We both loved it.

Make sure to put the Cinnamoroll Café Osaka on your kawaii bucket list. 

Don’t forget the Cinnamoroll Café gift shop 

Before you leave, don’t forget to check out the gift shop on the bottom floor. They also had a take-out area selling some kawaii snacks.

They sell all sorts of exclusive Cinnamoroll Café gifts that you can purchase to take home, like cups, mugs, plates, pens and keyrings. 

I particularly loved their Cinnamoroll plushies, and I got a keychain plush for my handbag. 

But, if you want even more Sanrio goodies, you’ll find a Sanrio Gift Gate directly opposite the café. 

I hope you have room in your suitcase, as it’s filled with shelves upon shelves of cuteness!
